I looked for a continuing education class before purchasing this book but was unable to find one. This turned out to be better for me. I will continue to use this book when I’m done as a reference. My boss likes being the only one at work that has all of his projects laid out with a chart and timeline. I found this book to be a both great technical reference and a training guide for any Project Manager who is looking to master the Microsoft Project scheduling engine and its connection to Project Online and Microsoft Project Server.

The content structure flows well with the overview chapters on project management theory and the follow-up step by step guidance on how to use every possible Project Manager-related features in Microsoft Project It begins with introductory basic concepts for beginners and continues all the way thru the most advanced capabilities for Project Managers who are striving to attain higher levels of tool expertise.

I found the project management and Microsoft Project topics to be well integrated and comprehensive. The exercises are easy to follow and are supported by Microsoft Project files I downloaded. This text covers how it all works together with task schedule dares, supported by demand and capacity for resources, and budget definition and management.

As a technical resource and team lead in the IT industry, I’ve been on both sides of a project. I am not a project I am not a project management expert so it was a pleasant surprise that this book started at a very simple level that was appropriate to my lack of expertise with Microsoft Project. As I used the exercises and reviewed the end of chapter questions, I was able to progress into more advanced features as I moved thru each chapter. I was able to use this book to learn to a lot of features that I could never figure out on my own.

This book starts with simple work break structures to create simple schedules in Microsoft Project. This is by far the most comprehensive coverage of MS Project I could find anywhere.
